While the brother escapesquickly because he knows the terrain, the police lose the trail <strong>and</strong>give up the chase. The brother must launch his operations far fromthe logistical centers <strong>of</strong> the police. A primary advantage <strong>of</strong> thismethod <strong>of</strong> operation is that it places us at a reasonable distance fromthe possibility <strong>of</strong> capture, which facilitates our evasion.In addition to this necessary precaution, the mujāhidīn must beconcerned with the enemy's communication system. The telephoneis the primary target in preventing the enemy from access toinformation, by knocking out his communications systems.Even if he knows about the jihādi operation, the enemy depends onmodern transportation for his logistics support, <strong>and</strong> his vehiclesnecessarily lose time carrying him through the heavy traffic <strong>of</strong> thelarge cities. It is clear that the tangled <strong>and</strong> treacherous traffic is adisadvantage for the enemy, as it would be for us if we were notahead <strong>of</strong> him.If we want to have a safe margin <strong>of</strong> <strong>security</strong> <strong>and</strong> be certain to leaveno tracks for the future, we can adopt the following methods;a) Deliberately intercept the police with other vehicles, or byseemingly casual inconveniences <strong>and</strong> accidents; but in thiscase the vehicles in question should neither be legal nor havereal license numbers.b) Obstruct the roads with fallen trees, rocks, ditches, falsetraffic signs, dead ends or detours, or other clever methods.c) Place homemade explosives in the way <strong>of</strong> the police; usepetrol or its like or throw Molotov cocktails or h<strong>and</strong> grenadesto set their vehicles on fire.d) Set <strong>of</strong>f a burst <strong>of</strong> submachine gun fire or weapons such as theFAL aimed at the motor <strong>and</strong> tires <strong>of</strong> the cars engaged in thepursuit; <strong>and</strong>e) Using all the <strong>security</strong> <strong>and</strong> safety precautions mentioned abouttravelling, meetings <strong>and</strong> the like.With the arrogance typical <strong>of</strong> the police <strong>and</strong> the military authorities,the enemy will come to fight us equipped with heavy guns,equipment <strong>and</strong> with elaborate maneuvers by men armed to theThe Compilation Of Security And Intelligence Principles Page 183
