6GAt the start of the '62 academic year the 6thForm engineers were divided as follows-Lower class, rowdy, troublemaking (outs, louts,and urgers-6A, 6B, 6D, 6E.Upper class, quiet, well-behaved, intelligent refinedboys-6G, 6C.These notes mainly concern the 6G (Civil Engineering)boys, but don't think this makes me atall prejudiced.WARWICK (Wee Will) BAYLEY, the "TyableRocker", ex-Frankston Tech., ex·5A C.T,C., strictteetotaller, non-gambler, etc ., is the quiet boy ofthe Form (there are one or two)-sometimes. Notedfor fruit-picking and having "most enjoyable"times at (Ugh!) rock dances.ROGER PAYNE (the Drain) is a paragon of virtue(believe it or not), but nevertheless a bit ofa dark horse. "Still waters run deep" and all thatrot .ALAN SYLE drives his father's car and also runsa few girls as a sideline. Noted for his Mondaymorning tiredness (Hellol Hellol) and Thursdaynight spruceness. Frequents such places as Penthouseon Saturday nights,GARY MOFFAT (Mullet) is the red-hairedruffian that played football for Footscray 2nds.He likes a "wee Drappie" and loves end-of-term.Noted for Crib Point week-ends. (What happensdown there, Gary?)GORDON JONES is rarely seen without Bruceand vice versa. Hmml Both C<strong>au</strong>lfield Tech. boysfrom way back and look like being fossilized here.BRUCE BENHOUGH is mostly associated withGordon and knows more ab out some things thanhe lets on. He concentrates on growing sideboardsuntil the barber gets hold of them,ROGER BYRNE gets on well with all teachers,except Mr . D" etc., etc. Noted for early conningof Carla (but too expensive. Cheltenham!) andfrequenting of Penthouse and numerous parties.Hopes to become the proud owner of a sail-boatone day.ALAN GREY is reputed to have signed on withByrne as crew. Alan is quite forward and has anopinion to air in most subjects. However. theteachers sometimes hear them, too. Church danceshold an attraction for Alan. It's a pity no oneknows her name.RA Y (Big Will) MILES is noted for his tidy,clean-shaven, sober appearance. (You're joking.)Noted for making profits on the sale of yachts,owning an antiquated car, and using his l/jirlfriend's father's car. (A man after my own heart.)Plays poker, blackjack, etc., and smokes Marlboro.A Iso keeps the tidiest set of notes in the Form,an example of which is a set of notes taken afterseeing Mr. MacNamara.IAN S. COURT prefers to be known as Ian S. Anoted lover of Geol ogy and teacher?). Utterlyrefuses to lake on vices (again) and is known toop erate a girl with a car.(Bashful) BOB LAIR is a Scotchman and Roy'sco-driver until Roy gets his licence. Bob doesEnglish I with the Commercial girls and is neverlate to that class. Noted for his conversion toJazz-now he parts his hair. He is now anotherPenthouse patron.EDDIE CHU is the sharpest, coolest cat amongstus . Noted for his appreciation of the Australianlanguage and Chinese women. Eddie is anotherboy who is always tired on Mondays - and Tuesdays,Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays. I thinkEddie has great potential as a card sharp and aQuiz Master (Wha dis?).JOHN LAMB is rarely seen by the Form as hehas engagements elsewhere. Carries a wallet fullof money and girls' addresses, we think. He knowswhat he is talking about, which is more than mostof us can say.ROGER McKIE is John's sidekick and is neverseen without a piece of fruit, just ask Mr. Nethercote.Reads current affairs bulletins and girliemagazines (what a mixture). He seems to worryabout nothing (lucky boy).TONY YUEN has a great sense of humour anda friendly smile. He knows more than he lets onand won't inform any of those desperately need­.ing information.DON REITER is a nomad. He spends his daywandering from 6G to a 7th form, but must betreated as one of the family. Noted for extremeluck in gambling and ability in golfing. Mr. N.thinks a lot of Don; he always asks him if heagrees; in fact it is hard to know who is teachingwho sometimes.Speaking of teachers. I must mention some 01those kindly people that help us through theyear, and thank them all for their effort. Mr.Davies should hang a weather beacon round hisneck to inform us of his changing moods. (Boycan they get one into trouble.) Then there is Mr.Pescott, who despairs of his ambition to make usCivil Engineers. a breed resembling a CTOSS betweena gentleman, an Englishman, Mr. Warner(V.R .) and a Civil Engineer.I.S.C.
