Stricldand.I would lik e to thank at this juncture all theteachers who assisted me so capably throughoutthe year, especially those who organised andcoached the various school teams; namely, Mr.Williams-Cricket and Football; Mr. jones-i-Scccer; Mr. Hayes-Baseball; Mr. Sawecki-Athletics.To these gentlemen I o ffer my sin cerest thanks.I do expect that in 1963 Caulfield will improveon this year's performance, and get back 10 thehigh level of success they have enjoyed in the past.N. E. Gardner. Sportsmaster.ATHLETICSCaulfield did not do as well as everybody ex pected; perhaps the thought of for the first timehaving to compete against schools with competitorsfrom Form V was too much for them. The fact still remains that all boys who didrepresent the school tried their hardest at all timesand we thank them for it.The coach, Mr. Sawecki, gave valuable advice, and spent many trying hours in an effort to im prove the various techniques of all team members, but the ability of the opposition was 100 strong. In closing Caulfield con gratulates Moorabbinfor its excellent all-round effort s in winning thecarnival.N . W e were justunfortunate to lose in the semi-finals.The s~earh ead of the team was our Captain,Victor Biro, who made every effor t to score. Hewas assisted by the forwards, Sam Mavrias an d RayBoyd, both of wh om have left th e country, alsoby Keith Needham and Colin McGrath. The opponents ran against a stone wall whenth ey tried tackling the backline. Headed by thecentre half, Peter Tsirns (Vice.Captain), the backline consisted of Bernard Weiss, left back, RobertWeiss, right back, Michael Sh u lma n, left halfand Robert Erdos, right half. The last barrierof th e back line was Va n Willigen , who had kep t(he goals.Out of ten ga mes in o u r section , we won eigh tand lost two.
