Proceeds from Iola Old Car Show go to area groupsVolunteers from more than135 non-profit groups helpannual show run smoothlyWhat started as a fund-raising projectfor the Iola Lions Club to finance afew community projects has now grownto include more than 135 area non-profitservice groups and organizations.Funds earned from the show go directlyto these service groups to supportcommunity and state activities, not individualsor business organizations.The participating organizations provideover 3,000 volunteer workers whowill donate over 28,000 hours of labor toprepare and stage Iola Old Car Show andSwap Meet.Because of the growth and need toestablish a centralized administrativestructure, a non-profit independent corporationwas formed.A seven-member board of directors iselected from the 10 non-profit civic organizationsthat formed the corporation in1984.The remaining ancillary organizationswere added as participants withthe corporation. What happens to all themoney earned in areas ranging from thegates to the food during the show?After funds are shared with the nonprofitservice clubs, the remaining fundsgo to showground improvements.
