Uninstalling and upgrading Avamar Exchange ClientINSTALLATIONUninstalling and upgrading Avamar Exchange ClientUnlike other platforms, previous versions of Avamar Exchange Client software donot have to be explicitly uninstalled before a new version can be installed. You canrun the install package of the newer Avamar Exchange Server Client you want toinstall on the client host that already has the older version of Avamar ExchangeServer Client installed.You can also use the Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs featureto completely uninstall the Avamar Exchange Client.IMPORTANT: Upgrading the Avamar Exchange Clientsoftware causes the Avamar Client Agent service to revert tologging in as the local SYSTEM user account, rather thanAvamarBackupUser. Therefore, following any AvamarExchange Client software upgrade, you must reconfigureAvamar Client Agent service to login as AvamarBackupUserand manually stop and restart the service for that change totake effect.EMC AVAMAR 6.0 FOR EXCHANGE GUIDE 41
Resetting the Avamar for Windows Cluster ClientINSTALLATIONResetting the Avamar for Windows Cluster ClientResetting the Avamar Cluster Client, like configuring the Avamar Cluster Client, isperformed on the active node in the cluster. You do not perform the uninstall stepson every node in the cluster.NOTE: It is recommended that all cluster nodes areoperational during the reset process.1. Log on to the active node in the Windows cluster with an account that usesAdministrator-level privileges.2. From the avs\bin directory (usually C:\Program Files\avs\bin), runAvamarClusterConfiguration.exe.The Setup - Cluster Backup Agent for Windows dialog box appears.3.
