E5.A2.1.7. Detained. A person is prevented from proceeding or is restrained in<br />

custody for alleged violation of international law or o<strong>the</strong>r reason claimed by <strong>the</strong><br />

government or group under which <strong>the</strong> person is being held.<br />

E5.A2.1.8. Disciplinary Event. The confinement of a military member whereby he<br />

or she is restricted from performing normal duties.<br />

E5.A2.1.9. Duty in Garrison. Home station or home port duty performed at <strong>the</strong><br />

permanent location that <strong>the</strong> member's unit occupies when not <strong>com</strong>mitted to an operation.<br />

E5.A2.1.10. Forward Presence. The visible posture of U.S. Forces and<br />

infrastructure strategically positioned in or near key regions around <strong>the</strong> globe, to<br />

contribute to <strong>the</strong> stability, continuity, and flexibility that protects U.S. interests.<br />

E5.A2.1.11. Funeral Honors Duty. The rendering of military honors to a deceased<br />

military member by Reserve <strong>com</strong>ponent members.<br />

E5.A2.1.12. Home Station or Local Operating Area of a Ship or Vessel Training.<br />

Training conducted within <strong>the</strong> limits of an installation, base, or local operating area of a<br />

ship or vessel. This area has been predetermined and is documented by appropriate<br />

authorities.<br />

E5.A2.1.13. Hospitalization. The formal admission to a medical treatment facility.<br />

E5.A2.1.14. Humanitarian Operation. An operation conducted to relieve or reduce<br />

<strong>the</strong> results of natural or manmade disasters or o<strong>the</strong>r endemic conditions such as human<br />

pain, disease, hunger, or privation that might present a serious threat to life or that can<br />

result in great damage to or loss of property. Assistance provided under <strong>the</strong>se<br />

provisions can include:<br />

E5.A2.1.15. Inactive Duty Training. Training performed under orders by a member<br />

of a Reserve <strong>com</strong>ponent, not on active duty or active duty for training, not performed at<br />
