domestic civil, humanitarian, or counter-drug military mission; or <strong>the</strong> process of<br />
carrying on <strong>com</strong>bat, including movement, supply, attack, defense, and maneuvers needed<br />
to gain <strong>the</strong> objectives of any battle or campaign.<br />
E5.A2.1.26. NATO Exercise. A <strong>com</strong>bined military maneuver or simulated wartime<br />
operation conducted by forces of two or more allied NATO nations acting toge<strong>the</strong>r for<br />
<strong>the</strong> ac<strong>com</strong>plishment of a single mission.<br />
E5.A2.1.27. Non-Deployment Personnel Tempo Event or Activity. A member is<br />
considered to be non-deployed on any day on which <strong>the</strong> member is engaged in official<br />
duties, unable to spend off-duty time in <strong>the</strong> housing in which <strong>the</strong> member resides, and:<br />
E5.A2.1.27.1. Performing service as a student or trainee at a school (including<br />
any Government school);<br />
E5.A2.1.27.2. Performing administrative, guard, or detail duties in garrison at<br />
<strong>the</strong> member's permanent duty station or home port;<br />
E5.A2.1.27.3. Unavailable solely because of hospitalization (when not<br />
deployed) or as a result of disciplinary action; or<br />
E5.A2.1.27.4. A Reservist participating in inactive duty training, muster duty,<br />
and funeral honors duty.<br />
E5.A2.1.28. Peacekeeping Operation. A military action undertaken with <strong>the</strong><br />
consent of all major disputing parties, designed to monitor and facilitate implementation<br />
of an agreement (such as a cease-fire truce) and support diplomatic efforts to reach a<br />
long-term political settlement.<br />
E5.A2.1.29. Service Exercise. A single Armed Force's military maneuver or<br />
simulated wartime operation involving planning, preparation, and execution carried out<br />
for <strong>the</strong> purpose of training and evaluation.<br />
E5.A2.1.30. Surveillance Operation. The systematic observation of aerospace,<br />
surface or subsurface areas, places, persons, or things, by visual, auditory, electronic,<br />
photographic, or o<strong>the</strong>r means.<br />
E5.A2.1.31. Unit Training at a Combined Training Center. The location where one<br />
or more Services conduct training to meet specific training requirements, test new<br />
methodologies, and receive independent training evaluations.<br />
