A secondary school diploma awarded on <strong>the</strong> basis of attending and <strong>com</strong>pleting an adult<br />
education or "external" diploma program, regardless of whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> diploma was<br />
issued by a State or by a secondary or post-secondary educational institution.<br />
A diploma issued to an individual who has attended and <strong>com</strong>pleted a 12-year or grade<br />
day program of classroom instruction; <strong>the</strong> diploma must be issued from <strong>the</strong> school<br />
where <strong>the</strong> individual <strong>com</strong>pleted all <strong>the</strong> program requirements.<br />
The status of an individual who is a non-high school graduate or alternate high school<br />
credential holder, attended a college or university, and <strong>com</strong>pleted at least 15 semester<br />
or 22 quarter hours of college-level credit. Credit earned through testing, for pursuit of<br />
adult education, or for high school equivalency preparation is not applicable. For military<br />
enlistment processing purposes, an individual with that status is considered a high<br />
school graduate.<br />
A certificate conferred upon <strong>com</strong>pletion of a 2-year program at a junior college,<br />
university, or technical institute.<br />
A certificate conferred upon <strong>com</strong>pletion of a 3-year hospital school of nursing program.<br />
A certificate conferred upon <strong>com</strong>pletion of a 4-year college program, o<strong>the</strong>r than a first<br />
professional degree.<br />
A certificate conferred upon <strong>com</strong>pletion of additional academic requirements beyond <strong>the</strong><br />
baccalaureate or first professional degree but below <strong>the</strong> doctorate level.<br />
A certificate conferred upon <strong>com</strong>pletion of additional academic requirements beyond <strong>the</strong><br />
master's degree level but below <strong>the</strong> doctorate level.<br />
A certificate conferred upon <strong>com</strong>pletion of <strong>the</strong> academic requirement for <strong>the</strong> first degrees<br />
awarded in selected professions: Architecture, Certified Public Accountant, Chiropody or<br />
Podiatry (DSC or PodD), Dentistry (DDS or DMD), Medicine (MD), Optometry (OD),<br />
Osteopathy (DO), Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Law (LLB or JD), and Theology<br />
(BD, Rabbi, or o<strong>the</strong>r first professional degree).<br />
A certificate conferred upon <strong>com</strong>pletion of additional academic requirements beyond <strong>the</strong><br />
master's and post-master's degree, but below <strong>the</strong> post-doctorate level, excluding<br />
honorary degrees and first professional degrees.<br />
A certificate conferred in recognition of <strong>the</strong> highest academic achievement within an<br />
academic field, excluding honorary degrees and first professional degrees.<br />
