Competent and caring faculty promote professional pride andfeelings of personal worth in each student.Student Financial AssistanceScholarship, grant, loan, and work-study funds at the Mercer University Cecil B. DayCampus are administered in conjunction with a nationally established philosophy ofdistributing financial assistance. The basis of this philosophy is the belief that the studentand his or her family have primary responsibility for paying the cost of education andthat financial assistance is available only for meeting the difference between the cost ofthe education and the amount students and parents can reasonably be expected tocontribute.The purpose of Mercer’s financial assistance program is to provide assistance tostudents who would be unable to attend college without such aid. Financial Assistancemay include scholarships, grants, loans, and part-time employment. These types ofassistance are extended either singly or in combination.The financial assistance award, or“package,” offered depends upon the student’s academic record and need for assistance.It is understandable that most students would prefer assistance through a full scholarshipor gift program, but our packaging concept enables the University to assist morestudents, thereby making it possible for more students to attend. Each aid applicant willautomatically be considered for all aid programs administered by the Student FinancialPlanning Officers.May 1 is the “priority filing date” for applicants for the subsequent fall term.Completed applications received after this date will be considered based upon availibilityof funds.Applicants must complete a Mercer Application and the Free Application forFederal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students may complete the FAFSA on the web atwww.fafsa.ed.gov and print the Mercer University Application for Financial Assistanceonline at atlanta.merceraid.com.How to Apply for Financial Assistance1.
