Graduate ProgramsEnrollment Requirements1. Required immunization records and health history prior to initial enrollment.2. Pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> current health insurance prior to initial enrollment and during the springsemester <strong>of</strong> each year.•Prior to initial enrollment, accepted students should send a copy <strong>of</strong> their insurancecard to the Admissions Office. After enrollment, insurance data should be providedeach spring to the advisor. Any changes to the insurance must be provided to the<strong>College</strong>. Students will be automatically enrolled for student insurance unless pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>existing health insurance is on file. The <strong>University</strong> has made arrangements withPearce & Pearce, Inc. to provide student health insurance. Specific information can beobtained at www.studentinsurance.com or by calling 1-888-622-6001. D.N.P. andPh.D. students are waived from the health insurance requirement.3. Current CPR certification (BLS-C) prior to and during enrollment in all clinical nursingcourses.•Pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> certification must be provided to the faculty advisor prior to enrollment inthe first nursing course. After initial enrollment, pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> certification must beprovided at advisement.4. Liability insurance.•The <strong>College</strong> purchases coverage for each student and includes the charge as a studentfee during the spring semester each year.5. Unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in <strong>Georgia</strong>.•M.S.N. students must maintain a current copy <strong>of</strong> an unencumbered <strong>Georgia</strong> licenseon file in nursing administrative <strong>of</strong>fices.•D.N.P. and Ph.D. students must hold an unencumbered license to practice in a state orjurisdiction <strong>of</strong> the United States <strong>of</strong> America. D.N.P. students must be eligible to applyfor licensure in <strong>Georgia</strong>. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional licensure must be kept current and aremaintained in the student’s file while enrolled in coursework.Course LoadAgraduate student is classified as full-time when enrolled in a minimum <strong>of</strong> 9 semesterhours during a term. Part-time enrollment, for scholarships and loans, is classifiedwhen enrolled in a minimum <strong>of</strong> 6 semester hours during a term. Audited courses donot count toward full-time enrollment. Although MSN students may begin courseworkin any semester, the recommended initial enrollment is Fall or Summer Semesters forproper sequencing <strong>of</strong> courses. Financial aid is available to part-time and full-timestudents; however, preference is given to students enrolled in full-time coursework.D.N.P. and Ph.D. students are only admitted during the Fall Semester.Grade Reports<strong>Mercer</strong> <strong>University</strong> does not automatically mail grade reports to students. Students maycheck their semester grades on-line through BearPort once the grades are posted.66
