Students will be introduced to a variety <strong>of</strong> ethical theories, frameworks,and principles. The emphasis <strong>of</strong> the course will be on learning how to examinecommon ethical issues that arise for nurses in a variety <strong>of</strong> settings.(Prerequisites: Completion <strong>of</strong> at least one clinical nursing course) (NUR 252 2-0-2) or(NUR 253 4-0-4)NUR 255 <strong>Nursing</strong> in the Camp Setting<strong>Nursing</strong> in the Camp Setting is a course designed to increase the student’sunderstanding and appreciation <strong>of</strong> camp nursing and the camp experience forchildren with a chronic disease. Emphasis will be placed on growth anddevelopment and on psychosocial adaptation <strong>of</strong> the school age child and adolescentwith chronic disease. (Prerequisite: Completion <strong>of</strong> at least one clinical course.)NUR 256 Global HealthThis course content will increase the student’s knowledge base and sensitivity topeople <strong>of</strong> diverse cultures and their health care needs. Students will synthesizeconcepts from various sources. Emphasis will be placed on the integration <strong>of</strong> social,political, cultural, religious and economic realities into health care assessment,planning, intervention and evaluation, both nationally and internationally. (2-0-2) or(4-0-4)NUR 350/NUR 354 Emergency <strong>Nursing</strong>Emergency <strong>Nursing</strong> is distinctive because <strong>of</strong> the broad body <strong>of</strong> knowledge required inorder to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patients who present with emergencysituations. Caring for people in crisis who are <strong>of</strong> varied ages and who have varyingdegrees <strong>of</strong> health alterations presents a great challenge to the nurse. Course contentrelates to nursing responsibilities when responding to an emergency and will includean in-depth analysis <strong>of</strong> dysrhythmia recognition and management. (Graduating threeyear curriculum students only.)
