How important is it <strong>for</strong> ADOT to prepare <strong>for</strong> future impacts <strong>of</strong> climate change?Asset Inventories, Vulnerability and Risk Assessments (20 minutes)1. The first step in assessing climate vulnerability on <strong>the</strong> State’s transportation assets is firstcompiling asset inventories and identifying critical infrastructure. Explore <strong>the</strong>interviewee’s role in this aspect <strong>of</strong> climate adaptation.2. Developing a climate adaptation action plans requires per<strong>for</strong>ming vulnerability and riskassessments, which include thresholds <strong>for</strong> wea<strong>the</strong>r-related damage and deterioration.Explore <strong>the</strong> interviewee’s role in this aspect <strong>of</strong> climate adaptation.<strong>Adaptation</strong> Projects, and The Identification <strong>of</strong> Prioritization and Funding (20 min)1. There are a layered plan <strong>of</strong> adaptation responses, which include planning,design/engineering and operations/maintenance strategies. Explore <strong>the</strong> interviewee’s rolein this aspect <strong>of</strong> climate adaptation.2. The agency will have to prioritize and allocate funding <strong>for</strong> adaptation projects, as well ascontinue to measure, monitoring, and reassess <strong>the</strong> program.Explore <strong>the</strong> interviewee’s role in this aspect <strong>of</strong> climate adaptation.Potential Tools, Resources and Areas <strong>for</strong> Fur<strong>the</strong>r Research (10 minutes)3. Are <strong>the</strong>re any recent agency-wide events or in<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>the</strong> project team should be aware<strong>of</strong> that could affect an internal ADOT ef<strong>for</strong>t to discuss and begin to incorporate <strong>the</strong> topic<strong>of</strong> climate change into <strong>the</strong> agency’s work?4. What <strong>for</strong>ums are available within ADOT <strong>for</strong> voicing concern about topics, such asclimate change or <strong>for</strong> suggesting changes to departmental procedures?5.
