CHAPTER 3. MATERIALS, METHODS, AND DATAAs part of the overalll goal to helpADOT become more resilient withrespect to climate change,the first preliminary assessment step is to conduct a “knowledge mapping” exercise to helpdetermine the planning, project developmentt, and asset managementt process flowat ADOT.This exercise could begin to zeroin on decision-makingpoints that could (or currently)incorporate information about current weather-related disruptions and/or future climate stressors.RESEARCH APPROACHThe research approach for this study began with the literature review, used an online surveyquestionnaire, structured interviews and focus groups to refine the knowledge map, thensummarized the findings.The ADOT climate adaptation research plan effort involved four main work tasks, as illustratedin Figure7.
