R‡shi Jiyu-Kennett, O.B.C., AbbessOn the 2nd. of November, Rev. Ek‡ Little and Rev. KinseiTower went to the Far East for the purpose of attending a symposiumon the future of S‡t‡ Zen temples in the West of which<strong>Shasta</strong> <strong>Abbey</strong> is one. Whilst I will leave it to Rev. Little toinform the readership at a later date of the actual decisionsreached during the symposium, there were several other eventswhich, at least form the point of view of <strong>Shasta</strong> <strong>Abbey</strong>, are offar greater importance.After the death of Rev. Seck Kim Seng, Archbishop ofMalacca, Malaysia, <strong>Shasta</strong> <strong>Abbey</strong> received his ashes for intermenthere in the shrine of the ancestors, known in <strong>Shasta</strong><strong>Abbey</strong> as the Koh‡ Zenji Shrine.
