What lab test method and limits are used to measure the storage stability anddegradation of PMB’s?TG1 specifies a 3 day storage stability test according to method MB – 6. The test requires that thePMB is stored in a glass tube at 160°C and the softening point is determined on the bottom andtop third of the sample. The specification allows a maximum difference of 5°C in line with CENrequirements for this test.TG1 also has a RTFOT requirement for monitoring change in the softening point before and aftertreatment of -2 and +8°C. This limit tends to cause problems for SBS modified binders as thesoftening points fluctuate over time for a given batch of binderV4-2 Page 60
