5.4. <strong>Helicopter</strong> equipment fit5.4.1 All helicopters usedAll helicopters involved in seismic operations must meet manufacturer's requirements and musthave the following items:1. Fuel low level warning light.2. Engine-monitoring device (if available for the aircraft type).3. Appropriate environmental control, including air conditioning for operations in high ambienttemperatures and/or heating for cold ambient temperatures (where air conditioning is notpractical, consideration must be given to reducing flight times to mitigate fatigue).4. Where available for aircraft type, Health and Usage Monitoring System – HUMS (vibrationand engine parameters)5. For passenger operations, upper torso restraints are required for all seats.6. Survival kit applicable to the environment and climate specific conditions within theoperating area and scaled to the expected number <strong>of</strong> passengers.7. SARSAT ELT/EPIRB within reach <strong>of</strong> the pilot. Integrated GPS in any emergency beacon isrecommended.8. Bear paws for work in s<strong>of</strong>t terrain regardless <strong>of</strong> season.9. Aviation approved GPS receivers.5.4.2 Additional requirements for external load operations5.4.2.1 All helicopters used for external load operations should have the following items:External mirrors, bubble windows or aircraft designed camera, to enable unobstructed view <strong>of</strong>the cargo hook area.Operable manual and electrical release (cockpit) and external release (hook).OGC <strong>IBP</strong> | Revision Date: Sept 2009 DRAFT15
