Importing audio files into the arrangementYou can quickly import audio into your arrangement without having toopen the Pool. This can be done in two ways:• By using the Import Audio function on the File menu.• By “dragging <strong>and</strong> dropping” an audio file directly onto the Arrange window.Using the Import Audio function1. Select the audio track to which you want to import an audio file.Note that you can’t import stereo files to mono tracks <strong>and</strong> vice versa.2. Move the Left Locator to where you want the audio file to start.3. Pull down the File menu <strong>and</strong> select “Import”, then select “Audio File...”from the submenu.A file dialog opens.4. Select a file format from the File Type pop-up menu.<strong>Cubasis</strong> <strong>VST</strong> can import files <strong>of</strong> the formats AIFF, Wave, <strong>and</strong> MP3. For AIFF <strong>and</strong> Wavefiles, 16 or 24 bit resolutions are supported, as are sample rates up to 96 kHz. Notehowever, that all files in a song must have the same sample rate (the sample rate selectedin the Audio System Setup dialog - see page 57.5. Use the file dialog box to locate the file <strong>and</strong> select it.• You can audition the audio file with the Play button.When you click the Play button, its label changes to “Stop…” <strong>and</strong> the selected audi<strong>of</strong>ile is played back. Playback continues until you click on Stop, or select another file.6. Click “Open”.The file is imported into the Pool, just as when using the Import Audio File comm<strong>and</strong>on the File menu in the Pool. A segment that plays the whole file is created <strong>and</strong> placedin an audio part, which in turn is placed on the selected audio track, at the position <strong>of</strong>the Left Locator.• If you import an MP3 file, the program will create a copy <strong>of</strong> the file <strong>and</strong>convert this to Wave format before importing it (the original MP3 file willnot be used in the <strong>Cubasis</strong> <strong>VST</strong> song).The Wave file will be placed in the currently selected Audio Files folder (if you haven’tyet specified one, you will be asked to do so).Please be aware that the converted Wave file will be several times larger than the originalMP3 file!CUBASIS <strong>VST</strong>15 – 270 Importing <strong>and</strong> Exporting Audio
