OpeningJust as with saving, <strong>Cubasis</strong> <strong>VST</strong> can open three different file types:songs, arrangements <strong>and</strong> MIDI files. Opening MIDI files which is usefulif you import music created in other sequencers, is done with the“Import MIDI File…” comm<strong>and</strong>, described later in this chapter. Thissection describes how to open songs or arrangements.1. Select “Open...” from the File menu (or click the Open icon on theToolbar).The Open dialog appears.2. Use the File Type pop-up to select which type <strong>of</strong> file you want to open,song or arrangement.Song files have the extension “.all” <strong>and</strong> arrangement files have the extension “.arr”.3. Navigate to the desired folder.4. Select the file <strong>and</strong> click Open.About opening songsThere can only be one song open at a time. If the currently open songcontains unsaved changes, you will be asked whether you want tosave the current song first before a new song is opened.About opening arrangementsIf the file is an arrangement, it will appear as a new window on screen,in addition to any Arrange windows already open. You can have up to16 arrangements open at the same time.About the default songEach time you launch <strong>Cubasis</strong> <strong>VST</strong>, a default song called “Def.All” isopened. This makes it possible to customize the default functionality<strong>and</strong> layout <strong>of</strong> the program:1. Launch the program.2. Set up the program as you want it.This may include the number <strong>and</strong> organization <strong>of</strong> tracks, MIDI setup, metronome settings,audio settings, part color etc.3.
