EMPLOYMENT TERMINATIONTermination of employment is an inevitable part of personnel activity within any organization, and manyof the reasons for termination are routine. Below are examples of some of the most commoncircumstances under which employment is terminated: Resignation - voluntary employment termination initiated by an employee. Discharge - involuntary employment termination initiated by the organization. Layoff - involuntary employment termination initiated by the organization for non-disciplinaryreasons. Retirement - voluntary employment termination initiated by the employee.Failure to give notice will result in an inability to be rehired.<strong>Tijuana</strong> <strong>Flats</strong> will generally schedule exit interviews at the time of voluntary employment termination. Theexit interview will afford an opportunity to discuss such issues as employee benefits, conversionprivileges, repayment of outstanding debts to <strong>Tijuana</strong> <strong>Flats</strong>, or return of <strong>Tijuana</strong> <strong>Flats</strong> owned property.Suggestions, complaints, and questions can also be voiced.Since employment with <strong>Tijuana</strong> <strong>Flats</strong> is on an at-will basis, both the employee and <strong>Tijuana</strong> <strong>Flats</strong> have theright to terminate employment at will, with or without cause, at any time.RESIGNATIONResignation is a voluntary act initiated by the employee to terminate employment with <strong>Tijuana</strong> <strong>Flats</strong>.Although advance notice is not required, <strong>Tijuana</strong> <strong>Flats</strong> requests at least 1 week written notice ofresignation from nonexempt employees and 2 weeks written notice from exempt employees.<strong>Policy</strong> <strong>Manual</strong>-Confidential9/5/2013Return to Top 42
