Shepursued her passion for literature atKenyon College and graduated in 2002with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Anaward winning drill sargeant (in marchingband), flutist and saxophone playerin high school, Alix went on to use thosetalents in college in her work with pit orchestraand flute choir, as well as playingin a folk band touring various venues.Alix also hosted a weekly two hour jazzradio show and became very involvedwitl1 costume design and with backstagetech crew in the drama department.Initially she pursued her interest inteaching and education by volunteeringtwice a week in the local elementaryschool tutoring 1st-5th graders in basicskills. One of her passions became quilting,tl1rough tl1e Kenyon Craft Center,and she continues this hobby today.Right after graduation, Alix wentto work as an assistant director ofadmissions for Kenyon. She recruitedstudents, read applications and renderedadmissions decisions. She was chosen toserve on the Multicultural RecruitmentTe am, because of her deep commitmentto enhancing education throughdiversity. She also coordinated thestudent volunteers in the office and wassolely responsible for transfer studentadmissions.AlLx and her husband Evan Gutl1rie, asecond year medical shtdent at ThomasJefferson University, live in a house onNoxon town Pond with their new puppyHenry. Kevin hastaught all levels of French and Spanishin grades 6 through 12.Kevin has also served as a director ofinternational studies, a role which drewupon his love for travel.
