While at <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Andrew's</strong>, he was aResidential Leader on Hillier Corridorand an active participant in the <strong>School</strong>'schapel program. Wr lson also competedin cross-country, swimming and crew. Inhis VI Form year, he was a co-captain ofthe cross-country and swimming teams,a first team all-conference runner andthe recipient of the Wa rwick Crew Prize.At graduation, Wilson was awarded theHenry Prize fo r outstanding leadership inathletics.Wilson went on to Colby Collegewhere he was a double major in historyand government. He was also a fo ur-yearmember of the cross-country, indoor trackand crew teams. Wilson was a two-timecaptain of Colby"s cross-country and trackteams, and he earned All-New Englandhonors in each of his three sports.Following college, in September of1999, Wilson moved to Holderness <strong>School</strong>in Plymouth, N.H. During his six years atHolderness, Wilson taught history, ran aboys' dormitory, served as the AssistantCollege Counselor, co-chaired the DisciplineCommittee, led winter backpackingtrips, and coached cross-country runntngandJV girls' ice hockey.In the summer of2002, Wilson wasawarded a fe llowship to the KlingensteinSummer Institute through ColumbiaTeachers College. Whileat BLS, Nicole realized her love fo rliterature, which she further pursued incollege.At the University of Pennsylvania,Nicole participated in the Penn-in­Cannes summer film studies program,served as editor of the African Americanand Latino newspaper, The Vision,was a Mellon Undergraduate Fellow,and was inducted into the MortarBoard and Onyx Honor Societies.After graduating in 1994 witha major in English and minor inAfrican-American <strong>St</strong>udies, Nicolebegan graduate work in British andAmerican Literature at the Universityof Michigan. In 1996, she returned toPenn, where she is currently writingher doctoral dissertation, "HungryListening: Engaging African-AmericanExpressive Culture:' Nicole has taughtat Penn, Michigan and the Holderness<strong>School</strong>, where she also assisted in theschool's diversity efforts. She has earnedfellowships from the Ford and Mellonfo undations and has published articleson African-American poetry.In quiet moments, Nicole enjoyscooking, yoga, bookmaking, writingpoetry, watching movies and listeningto music. His formative years werespent in Boston, Mass., where he attendedthe Boston Latin <strong>School</strong>. His educationgave h im an appreciation for history thathe continued to develop in college.After graduating from the Universityof Pennsylvania in 1994, with a major inAmerican History, a minor in African­American <strong>St</strong>udies, and as a member of theOnyx senior honor society, Nigel joinedthe faculty at the Holderness <strong>School</strong>. Afterfour years, he took time off to pursuegraduate work at Dari:mouth College inthe M.A.L.S. program and at VillanovaUniversity, where he earned his master'sdegree in history. In 1999, he returned tohis teaching responsibilities at Holdernessand coached basketball and ten nis.In addition to his teaching, coachingand dorm parenting at Holderness, Nigelalso served as the director of the school'sdiversity program, helping to addressissues around multiculturalism facinginde pendent schools. Nigel \vas a fellow inthe Klingenstein Summer Institute offeredthrough the Teachers College, ColumbiaUniversity in 2000. For the summerof2003, Nigel served as a lead Historyteacher in the KSI program, as well asworking at the New Teachers Conferenceat Milton Academy.Nigel enjoys playing all kinds of sports,listening to music, watching movies andreading . His wife, Nicole and baby girl,Logan, will join him in New Yo rk Citythis year as he pursues a master's degree inEducation at Columbia University havingreceived a Klingenstein Fellowship fo r the2005-06 academic year.
