Idon’t like to consider the possibility thatmy mentor became unstable. Especiallynow that he is dead and I have no way ofascertaining precisely what he meant.The idea that the children have indeedtravelled – not forward in space, butbackwards across time – is as heroic as it isunthinkable. But how else to explain theircreeping occupation of our world?
