They thoughtThe Law would be their “righteousness” (Deuteronomy 6:25).Instead, God wanted The Law to reveal to them they couldn’t be“righteous” (Romans 5:20). The Lawwas to be a “schoolmaster” (Galatians 3) to bring them to Christand “repentance.” It was truly to be a “schoolmaster.” The Lawwas a teacher to show them how sinful they really were. Israelwas always carnal and unrepentant and had to be reminded overand over again.The ShadowThe Law with the sacrifices, was a shadow of things to come(Hebrews 10:1). The Sabbath, Holy Days, meal offerings andnew moons were “shadows” of how Jesus would restore Israeland bring the whole world to God’s rest or paradise (Colossians2:16-17). In John 5:46, Jesus told The Pharisees if they had understoodwhat Moses wrote, they would have known Moses waswriting about Christ, The Messiah.
