1 Sep 05 908 th AW Flight and aeromedicdal evacuation crews transported 30 more<br />
residents from Gulfport AF Village <strong>to</strong> Andrews AFB, MD. 44<br />
1 Sep 05 <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> Reserve Special Operation <strong>Force</strong>s (SOF) aircraft assisted in the<br />
support of the relief mission. Three missions transported needed water,<br />
Meals-Ready-<strong>to</strong>-Eat (MREs), and chain saws in<strong>to</strong> the region. 45<br />
1 Sep 05 Headquarters AFRC <strong>Air</strong> and Space Expeditionary <strong>Force</strong> (AEF) Cell began<br />
<strong>to</strong> review Hurricane Relief efforts and their impact on <strong>Air</strong> and Space<br />
Expeditionary <strong>Force</strong> commitments. Functional area managers (FAMs)<br />
ascertained if deployed AEF <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> Reservists from home stations that<br />
had been affected by Hurricane Katrina wished <strong>to</strong> return <strong>to</strong> be with their<br />
families. The goal was <strong>to</strong> have, if at all possible, service members<br />
deployed away from home station return <strong>to</strong> their families at the most<br />
expeditious time. FAMs worked immediate replacements <strong>to</strong> have those<br />
deployed members wishing <strong>to</strong> return substituted in the field without<br />
mission degradation. 46<br />
1 Sep 05 AFRC aircraft were evacuated <strong>to</strong> alternate locations. The 926 th FW (New<br />
Orleans ARS) moved 11 aircraft <strong>to</strong> Barksdale AFB, LA (A-10s) on 27<br />
Aug 05, while 4 remained in hangars. 403 rd WG had already dispersed its<br />
WC-130 aircraft <strong>to</strong> Dobbins ARB, GA (4); Elling<strong>to</strong>n ANGB, TX (5);<br />
Dyess AFB, TX (5); while 2 remained in hangers. 47<br />
1 Sep 05 As part of its Hurricane Katrina response, the 452 nd AMW (March ARB,<br />
CA) had six aeromedical evacuation crews on Bravo alert and one C-17<br />
crew on Bravo alert. 48<br />
