23 Sep 05 As of this date, AFRC Aeromedical Evacuation personnel had moved a
total of 2612 patients. Four personnel from the 433 rd AW and an
aeromedical evacuation liaison team with 13 personnel were deployed to
New Orleans, LA, and 22 AFRC personnel, including three 15-person
crews and one 7-person crew management cell (908 th AW Maxwell AFB,
AL), were deployed to Lackland AFB, TX. 188
23 Sep 05 Five HH-60s from the 920 th RQW (Patrick AFB, FL) were available for
tasking. Aerial spray operations were cancelled for weather. The 433 rd
AW (Lackland AFB, TX) cancelled its evacuation plan. 189
Volunteers from Dobbins Air Reserve Base, GA, shuttle a patient who arrived there
on a C-141 assigned to Air Force Reserve Command’s 445 th Airlift Wing, Wright-
Patterson Air Force Base, OH. About 100 patients were airlifted to Dobbins for
transportation to hospitals in Atlanta, one of 17 cities in the country taking 2,500
Hurricane Katrina victims. At Dobbins, the patients went to the 80 th Aerial Port
Squadron building where Veterans Administration medical people assessed their
conditions before they were transported by ambulance to one of 38 Atlanta
