This satellite pho<strong>to</strong>, provided by the <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> Weather Agency at Offutt AFB, NE, shows the status<br />

of Hurricane Wilma as of 8:25 a.m. EST, on 24 Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 2005. The image captures the Category 2<br />

s<strong>to</strong>rm off the coast of Florida, with the center of the s<strong>to</strong>rm's eye about 75 miles northeast from<br />

Miami. This pho<strong>to</strong>graph is actually a composite of two satellite images taken by a Defense<br />

Meteorological Satellite Program satellite. 230<br />

24 Oct 05 Intermittent circuit outages affected communication with Homestead<br />

ARB, FL, after the landfall of Hurricane Wilma. Electrical power and<br />

phone lines were inoperative throughout most of the base except for a few<br />

critical buildings with back-up genera<strong>to</strong>r power. The airfield was able <strong>to</strong><br />

operate under visual flight rules (VFR) later that day. Homestead<br />

leadership requested personnel and genera<strong>to</strong>rs <strong>to</strong> support base functions –<br />

HQ AFRC Civil Engineers worked the request 231<br />

25 Oct 05 The 349 th Security <strong>Force</strong> Squadron (Travis AFB, CA) had 3 members<br />

deployed for 60 days in support of Hurricane Katrina relief. Their<br />
