FEYWILD LAIRA lair for five 9th-level adventurersFor many creatures, the Feywild represents a refuge,an escape from the dangers of the world for thecomforts of a pristine, untouched realm filled withpeaceful creatures, gentle landscapes, and bounteousjoy. However, the Feywild is quick to dispelthese expectations. Though the realm is as beautifulas many expect, it is also hideous in places wheretwisted creatures—dark of form, mind, or both—layclaim to pockets of the land to further their sinisterdesires and hatch wicked plots. For all its splendor, the Feywild is as dangerous as the darkest reachesof the Shadowfell and as capricious as the greatestdepths of the Elemental Chaos.HistoryThe green dragon Razcoreth did not hatch in the Feywild, but the plane’s spirit fills his dark heart. Wildand reckless, he spent much of his time in the worldflitting through deep forests, terrorizing woodcuttersand travelers, and harassing anyone who encroachedon what he claimed as his woods. Razcoreth neverintended to harm anyone; he just wanted humanoidsto stay out of his home, and he used his powers todrive off unwanted guests.Razcoreth’s presence and antics kept travelers fromlingering in the forest. But as rumors of the greendragon spread throughout the neighboring lands, tales of his cruelty and violence grew in the telling, and it wasn’t long before adventurers descendedon the woods to slay the beast. Razcoreth, who hadnever killed any of his victims, was shocked when hecame under attack, stung by the arrows and spears ofvicious humanoid warriors. He fled into the depths ofhis woods, beyond any map or knowledge of mortals. There, nursing his wounds, he called out to the spiritsfor aid, begging them to preserve his life. His distresscaptured the attention of an ancient fey spirit, whopromised to help the green dragon in exchange for hisdevotion. Razcoreth gladly made the pact and gainednewfound power and mastery of dark spells withwhich he could fight back against his enemies. With renewed hope and inflamed anger, thedragon emerged from his forest home and spreaddeath and misery throughout the woods. At first, herestricted his attacks to those who sought to kill him,but before long, he developed a taste for blood. Thus, when no more enemies would face him, he ranged outfrom his home to strike nearby communities, slaughteringentire hamlets to feed his hunger for death.Such wanton destruction could not go unnoticed, and the emperor of the humanoid realm respondedwith force. A legion of his best dragonslayers stormedthe forest, sweeping through the woods in search ofthe elusive dragon. Razcoreth fought them as best hecould, but there were too many swords, and he knewthat if he remained, he would be slain. Once more hecalled out to the fey spirit, begging the entity to savehim, and again the spirit answered, revealing a portalto the Feywild. Slipping through, Razcoreth emergedinto a forest that was similar to his own but darker, somehow more alive and with a penchant for thesame violence that now lived in his heart. In the depths of these woods, Razcoreth lives still.Trapped in the Feywild, he has forgotten his originalhome, his former light heart a dim memory. He hasfully embraced the verdant wonder of his new land.Using his talents for manipulation and the favorof the dark spirit that watches over him, he rules astretch of woods far from the courts of the eladrinlords, mastering the land in a way that he never couldin the realm of mortals.EnvironmentRazcoreth’s den lies in the heart of an ancient forest, beneath an old fey hill not far from the portal thatbrought him to the Feywild. The dragon’s lair has the following featuresthroughout except where otherwise indicated.✦ The ground is relatively flat in the vicinity of the lairand is covered with pine needles, which grant charactersa +2 bonus to Stealth checks to move silently.✦ Clustered around the trees are wiry thorn bushesthat scratch and pull at clothing and exposedflesh.
