Tesis <strong>de</strong> Grado.ABSTRACTThe present study aims to <strong>de</strong>termine the prevalence of respiratory symptoms andspirometric abnormalities in workers exposed to persulphates and its impact onquality of life of 50 employees who work in salons, through an investigation of a<strong>de</strong>scriptive, transversal, non-experimental and case . We used an occupationalhistory, adapted from COVENIN and the questionnaire of respiratory symptomsand quality of life of SAINT GEORGE. Spirometry was performed as recommen<strong>de</strong>dby the American Thoracic Society. The 50 workers exposed to respiratory hazardsaveraged an age of 37.88 years, range 18 - 61, weighing 69 kilos with a range from40 to 112 kilos, with size range of 160 cm and 1.45 -1.78 average exposure time of5.5 years, range 0.5 - 14 years. The results showed no significant <strong>de</strong>terioration oflung function tests in the study group, but have a high prevalence of respiratorysymptoms and impaired quality of life because of their performance in beautycenters and beauty salons. It showed a higher frequency of such restrictiveventilatory syndrome, smoking showed no significant impact for any of thevariables analyzed, and according to exposure time, there was no statisticaldifference between groups.Palabras clave: Spirometry, respiratory symptoms, respiratory hazards.
