Non-Verbal Reasoning is suitable for pupils
aged 8 to 14 years and can be administered
individually or in a group setting. These
standardised tests measure a pupil’s ability to
engage with context-free visual information in order to identify their
wider reasoning ability and potential.
Non-Verbal Reasoning 8–14 involves no reading, so can provide insight
into the abilities of pupils who think more easily in images than words
and those who have limited reading skills, for example dyslexics, poorly
motivated pupils who haven’t learned to read, or those who speak
English as an Additional Language (EAL).
These standardised assessments offer a reliable indication of how easily
a pupil may acquire new concepts in a wide range of subjects including
Maths, Science and Design and Technology. A short practice test
ensures that all pupils understand what is expected of them before they
start the test.
Non-Verbal Reasoning Digital offers the same quality, rigour and
reliability as its paper-based equivalent, with the added benefit of
automatic scoring, a more motivating test experience and instant
diagnostic reports delivered at the touch of a button. The diagnostic
reports illustrate information such as:
• Pupils’ results by Standard Age Score
• Comparison of group with national scores
• Comparison of pupil results by criteria including gender,
ethnicity and free school meals
• Key Stage 1 and 2 National Curriculum Level Indicators
