The Dyslexia Portfolio is an ideal
follow-up assessment to the
Dyslexia Screener Digital for
those pupils who may have been
screened as having dyslexic
tendencies, or whose
performance in literacy is causing
concern.
The individual diagnostic
assessment provides a profile of
strengths and weaknesses that
can be translated directly into an
individual teaching plan, enabling
specialist teachers to devise and
implement a relevant and
sensitive, multi-sensory
intervention programme.
Comprising nine sub-tests, the Dyslexia Portfolio takes just 40 minutes
to administer and the one-to one test format allows observation of each
pupil during the test session. The mix of tasks in these tests will help
identify areas of difficulty in word level literacy, phonics and processing.
The nine sub-tests are as follows (some of which can be used for
Access Arrangements):
- Single Word Reading - Naming Speed
- Single Word Spelling - Writing
- Reading Speed - Recall of Digits Forward
- Phoneme Deletion - Recall of Digits Backwards.
- Non-Word Reading
The Portfolio comes with an online Report Generation Tool. Teachers
input raw scores and a graphical and narrative report is produced
instantly, complete with Standard Age Scores and recommendations for
appropriate support and intervention. A parent report is also available.
Why use the Dyslexia
Portfolio?
• Fully standardised, the battery
of short diagnostic tests will
help you identify areas of
difficulty in literacy learning
• The Dyslexia Portfolio provides
valuable information on a pupil’s
strengths and weaknesses so
that appropriate support
programmes and intervention
strategies can be planned
• Online reporting automatically
produces statistical, graphical
and narrative reports on each
individual after scores have
been entered
• The tests in the Portfolio can be
used alongside results from
other tests, such as
GL Assessment’s Dyslexia
Screener and British Picture
Vocabulary Scale: Third Edition,
to provide a comprehensive
pupil profile
a complete approach
the Dyslexia Portfolio in our portfolio
The Dyslexia Portfolio is an ideal-follow-up assessment to the
Dyslexia Screener Digital (page 53). The Dyslexia Screener Digital
will help identify dyslexic tendencies in pupils aged 5-16+ and the
Dyslexia Portfolio will examine these difficulties in more detail so that
appropriate intervention can be planned. To ensure pupils with
dyslexia achieve their potential, ongoing support in the classroom and
small group settings is essential. GL Assessment’s Dyslexia
Guidance (page 53) is an invaluable resource for this purpose,
providing specialist teachers with practical advice and support from
pre-school through to university level.
“Dyslexia Action Psychology would wish to encourage a view that
the use of Dyslexia Portfolio certainly gives very valuable
information towards a diagnosis of dyslexia.”
