The printed press plays a rather significant role in exerting influence
on people’s conscience and opinions: through manipulation,
pressure groups can sheperd human behaviour (see also
Hennoste 1999: 62–65).
Rein Sikk, one of the journalists who brought up the subject
of roadside monuments, wrote in Eesti Päevaleht:
