You will find many of the services you need for day-to-day life right on campus.
HEALTHCARE
UQ Health Service (UQHS) is a fully
accredited health facility that provides
comprehensive health services for students.
UQHS offers confidential consultations by
appointment to all students. Many medical
services for international students provided by
the University Health Service are covered by
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) (see
page 88). You can find out more about health
care in Australia and OSHC during Orientation.
A dental clinic is located at UQ St Lucia and
offers a student discount.

CHILDCARE
If you have children needing care while you
study, you should contact an International
Student Advisor for advice on your options.
Childcare, kindergarten, and after-school facilities
(all independently operated) are available to UQ
students on or near all campuses. All centres
have long waiting lists. Please note that no free
childcare options are available and no priority is
given to children of UQ students. You can also
contact centres directly (see table at right) to
ask about vacancies.

Many faiths are practised and respected in
Australia.
Brisbane has facilities and places of worship
for all major faith groups. The UQ Multi-Faith
Chaplaincy Service has chaplains who represent
Buddhist, Christian, Greek Orthodox, Jewish,
and Islamic faiths. The chaplains can help
you with pastoral care matters relating to your
personal, family, religious or spiritual life.
