Un gruppo di donne di ogni estrazione sociale ha
un sogno: rinverdire la storia decadente del “full
contact roller derby” in Australia.
Guidate dal loro presidente Evil Doli, le “roller
girls” hanno creato un campionato coltivato dalla
passione di donne della periferia: infermiere,
tatuatrici ed istruttrici di guida, mogli e madri di
giorno, diavoli su ruote di notte. Molte possiedono
tatuaggi e piercing, vivono la propria vita fuori dai
canoni della società, ma sulla pista di pattinaggio
sono una squadra. Roller Derby Dolls è una storia
di forza femminile “vecchia scuola”.
A sassy group of women from all walks of life has
a dream: to resurrect the lost sport of “full-contact
roller derby” in Australia. Led by their president
Evil Doli, the roller girls, have set up a derby league.
Artists, tattoo and driving instructors, wives
and mothers by day, hell on wheels at night.
Many are heavily tattooed and pierced, living lifestyles
out of step with mainstream society. They
are rebels, misfits, rockabilly and punks. But on the
rink they are a team. Roller Derby Dolls is a story
of female empowerment, friendship and struggles-all
on old-school roller skates.

Questo film parla della vita e della forza di uno fra
i tanti atleti afghani emigrati in Iran. Il signor Hosseini,
campione di kung-fu a livello internazionale,
dopo aver conquistato gloria ed onori grazie ad uno
sport che gli ha cambiato la vita, sceglie di percorrere
la difficile strada dell’allenatore. La sua prova sarà
faticosa e non priva di insidie, ma la voglia di dedicare
al proprio Paese il suo tempo e l’esperienza
maturata negli anni sarà una molla troppo forte.
This film is about life and force of one of the many
afghans athletes who emigrated from his homeland
to Iran. Mr. Hosseini, international kung-fu champion,
after gaining glory and honours thanks to a sport
that changed his lige, choosed to embark himself on
a difficult plan: becoming a kung-fu trainer. His work
will be exausting and full of snares, but the will to
dedicate his country either time or experience will
be conclusive.

La storia proposta illustra quello che fu il periodo
passato sotto assedio da parte della città di Leningrado.
Nella primavera del 1942, nella città assediata,
vi fu il “Giorno dell’Atleta”, una competizione
fra atleti, e una partita di calcio fra le squadre della
“Dynamo” e dello “Zenith”.
I protagonisti di quella storia, ovvero gli atleti, i veri
eroi che difesero la città assediata e chi, allora giovane,
lavorò per la vittoria nell’assediata Leningrado,
raccontano come lo sport li aiutò a sopravvivere.
This film is about an event when Leningrad was
under the Nazis siege. In spring of 1942, in the
besieged city, there was conducted a Day of the
Athlete competitions between the athletes, and a
football match between “Dynamo” and “Zenith”
teams.
The athletes, who are the heroes, those who defended
the besieged city and who, being youngsters,
worked for the victory in besieged Leningrad,
tell how the sport helped them to survive.
