Pumping Systems Volumetric centrifugal pump The centrifugal system certainly reaches the highest flows (up to 10.000 l/min). JOSKIN offers different systems according to the tanker model: • Emptying centrifugal pumps: Booster and Storm • The combination of two high-performance centrifugal pumps: Dual-Storm • The combination of a centrifugal pump for spreading and a vacuum pump for suction: Vacu-Storm Emptying centrifugal pumps: Booster or Storm The Booster or Storm pumps only work when emptying. The filling takes place thanks to the gravitational force through an upper hydraulic trap. These two pumps differ from each other in capacity and compatibility with the different models. The Booster pump has a flow of 6000 litres (at 540 rpm) and is mounted on Modulo2 and Komfort2 tankers while the Storm pump (10.000 litres at 1000 rpm) is recommended on Quadra and Euroliner. The pump is mechanically driven, with direct connection to the tractor (540 rpm). The stone trap is standard fitted with this type of pump. In option, it is possible to mount a 3-way valve at the front of the tank to mix the contents in closed circuit. - 22 -
Pumping Systems ‘‘DUAL-STORM’’ centrifugal pumps The Dual Storm concept is based on the combination of two centrifugal pumps: one mounted at the boom end for the filling and the other at the front of the tank for the spreading. This type of pump essentially distinguishes itself by its high flow, bordering on 9000 or 10.000 l/min according to the kind of slurry. Its three-blade propeller requires very little maintenance in comparison with the other high-flow volumetric pumps (with lobes or spiral), as it is less sensitive to the passage of foreign bodies. As all volumetric systems, the centrifugal pump allows a better filling of the tank while avoiding foaming (the foam being rejected into the pit by the overflow pipes). The spreading pump is mechanically driven by the tractor P.T.O.-shaft. The Power-Pack system is another way to operate: an independent hydraulic installation feeding the suction pump and the spreading pump (flow of 110 l/min and 1.000 rpm at 350 bars). DUAL-STORM with mechanical drive The suction pump at the boom end is hydraulically operated with direct connection to the tractor (85 l/min at a 1000 rpm drive). DUAL-STORM DUAL-STORM with Power-Pack hydraulic drive Option: pumping on funnel The pumping on funnel is an interesting option with the dorsal boom. A vacuum pump makes it possible to create a vacuum in the boom; at this moment, the centrifugal pump is primed and can pump through the funnel. The pump currently available is a MEC 5000 with hydraulic drive. This assembly is automatically equipped with a 30 litres syphon, the special JOSKIN pressure relief valve (Ø 150 mm), a pump inversion control and two ISOBUS controls. ‘‘VACU-STORM’’ centrifugal pumps The VACU-STORM system allows a combination: suction through vacuum pump with or without turbo-filler on the arm or dorsal boom, and spreading through centrifugal pump for the feeding of wide spreading tools. Both pumps are hydraulically driven by the Power-Pack system. A Ramus valve isolates the tank and the case of the centrifugal pump. For this type of assembly, the tanker must be fitted with a hydraulic installation to have enough oil capacity to operate the whole vehicle. - 23 -
