Dreimal in Folge war Robert<br />
Harting Sportler des Jahres, er ist<br />
amtierender Europameister im<br />
Diskuswurf und gewann bei den<br />
olympischen Spielen in London 2012<br />
die Goldmedaille. Die will er diesen<br />
Sommer in Rio verteidigen. Sein<br />
schärfster Konkurrent? Sein kleiner<br />
Bruder Christoph. Mit uns redet er<br />
über zerrissene Trikots und andere<br />
haarige Angelegenheiten.<br />
Robert Harting was Germany’s<br />
Sports Personality of the Year<br />
for three years running. He is<br />
Europe’s reigning discus champion<br />
and was the sport’s gold medal<br />
winner at the London Olympic<br />
Games in 2012, a title he’ll be<br />
defending this summer in Rio.<br />
His toughest competitor is none<br />
other than his younger brother,<br />
Christoph. Harting takes a break<br />
from training to chat to us about<br />
ripped shirts and hairy situations.<br />
Im Sommer wollen Sie bei den<br />
olympischen Spielen in Rio Gold<br />
gewinnen. Sind Sie zuversichtlich?<br />
Es wird ein Kampf. Nach meinem<br />
Kreuzbandriss muss ich hart arbeiten,<br />
um mein früheres Niveau zu erreichen.<br />
2012 in London wollte ich die Goldmedaille<br />
erzwingen. Heute bin ich<br />
nicht mehr so verbissen. Ich bin<br />
lockerer. Obwohl die Olympiade für<br />
mich eine existenzielle Bedeutung hat.<br />
How confident are you of defending<br />
your gold medal in Rio?<br />
It’ll be a fight. I have to work hard to<br />
reach my previous level after tearing my<br />
cruciate ligament. I really wanted that<br />
gold in London. I’m not as singleminded<br />
now, although the Olympics are<br />
extremely important for me.<br />
Was heißt das genau?<br />
Als Fußballer kann man sich jedes<br />
Wochenende in der Bundesliga zeigen.<br />
Mal ist man schlechter, mal besser,<br />
abgerechnet wird nach der Saison. Ich<br />
bin Athlet einer Randsportart. Da lebt<br />
man für diesen einen großen Tag, alle<br />
vier Jahre. Man muss bei der Olympiade<br />
gut drauf sein, um wieder ein Jahr<br />
über die Runden zu kommen – auch<br />
finanziell. Dadurch staut sich natürlich<br />
ein enormer psychischer Druck auf.<br />
Why is it still so important to you?<br />
As a footballer you can appear in the<br />
Bundesliga every weekend.<br />
Sometimes you’re better, sometimes<br />
you’re worse, it’s all worked out per<br />
season. I’m an athlete in a more<br />
marginal sport where you live for that<br />
one big day that comes around every<br />
four years. You have to be on good<br />
form at the Olympics to make it,<br />
including financially. That creates a<br />
huge build-up of psychological<br />
pressure, of course.<br />
Kein Wunder, dass Sie nach einem<br />
Wettkampf gewaltig Dampf<br />
ablassen müssen – und etwa Ihr<br />
Trikot zerreißen.<br />
2007 bei der Weltmeisterschaft in<br />
Osaka habe ich das zum ersten Mal<br />
gemacht. Das hat sich damals spontan<br />
ergeben. Eine Deutschlandfahne zum<br />
Jubeln war nicht zur Hand. Also<br />
musste mein Shirt dran glauben.<br />
No wonder you need to let off steam<br />
after a competition by tearing off<br />
your shirt.<br />
I did it for the first time at the 2007<br />
World Championships in Osaka. It<br />
just happened spontaneously. I didn’t<br />
have a German flag to hold up, so my<br />
shirt bore the brunt.<br />
Mittlerweile ist das Zerreißen<br />
des Trikots nach einem Sieg Ihr<br />
Markenzeichen. Üben Sie die<br />
Pose manchmal vor dem Spiegel?<br />
Quatsch. Ich weiß, diesen Jubel finden<br />
viele prollig. Aber es ist ein Ausdruck<br />
von Freude.<br />
