A WLAN may cause technical problems and is therefore subject to approval. The exhibitor is liable for damage caused by the operation of a WLAN without approval. The Exhibition Services Department will be pleased to advise on the approval and setting up of a WLAN. The exhibitor agrees to comply with these conditions. P5 The WLAN hardware to be installed must comply with the applicable regulations for radio networks in Europe. Whether the hardware used complies with these regulations can be determined from the documentation supplied by the equipment manufacturer. It is essential that the SSID is named after the exhibitor to enable identification of WLAN networks. In addition, encryption from this network is essential according to the latest technical standard. In the event of noncompliance, NürnbergMesse shall be entitled to shut down the network until this requirement is fulfilled. Should NürnbergMesse discover that interference is caused to its existing networks, NürnbergMesse is entitled to request the exhibitor to shut down his radio network. Compliance with this request is obligatory. Siemens Enterprise Communications is the sole supplier of a WLAN infrastructure for commercial use on the NürnbergMesse site. NürnbergMesse grants Siemens Enterprise Communications exclusive frequency control over WLAN standards IEEE 802.11b/g in the 2.4 GHz band and IEEE 802.11a/h in the 5 GHz band for the full-coverage WLAN service on the NürnbergMesse site. Only channel 1 in the 2.4 GHz band (2412 MHz) is available on the NürnbergMesse site for use for all other applications/WLAN networks for operation by ServicePartners of NürnbergMesse and operation of exhibitors' own radio/WLAN networks. NürnbergMesse reserves the right to refuse approvals or not to approve applications for exhibitors’ own WLAN networks, depending on the number and physical assignment per hall. As part of quality assurance measures, both unregistered and approved WLAN networks and WLAN networks with excessive transmit power levels will be identified and the operators notified. These networks may possibly be approved after checking or are to be shut down if requested by NürnbergMesse – there is no legal entitlement to approval. If an amicable solution is not possible, technical measures will be implemented to prevent the illegal operation of such WLAN networks.
