Liverpool
Home to two Premier league football clubs, labelled the World Capital City
of Pop by Guinness World Records and European Capital of Culture in 2008,
Liverpool attracts visitors from around the globe with its world class attractions.
Only topped by London when it comes to the amount of museums and galleries,
and with a large selection of tours available for first-time visitors and those with
specialist interests, this designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and birthplace
of The Beatles will have visitors enjoying the sights and sounds Here, There
and Everywhere!
One of the most recognisable landmarks in
the city is the Royal Liver Building, home
to two fabled Liver Birds which watch over
the city and the sea. Legend says should the
birds fly away the city will cease to exist.
The Grade I listed building is located at Pier
Head and along with the Cunard Building
and Port of Liverpool Building, they are
collectively known as the Three Graces.
Conceived and constructed as symbols
of Liverpool’s 20th century international
prestige and commercial prowess, standing
at 98.2m tall, the Royal Liver Building was
the tallest storeyed building in Europe in
1932, and remained the tallest in the UK
until 1961. Part of Liverpool’s UNESCO
World Heritage Maritime Mercantile City,
take the camera and a take
a day to explore these
magnificent buildings.
Buy a ticket to ride and jump aboard
the Ferry cross the Mersey for a 50
minute river explorer cruise taking in the
best views along the riverside. The Mersey
Ferry Snowdrop has recently received
a dazzling make-over from famous pop
artist Sir Peter Blake to commemorate
World War I.
The dazzling camouflage was introduced
to confuse the enemy to a vessels speed
and direction making it more difficult
to target.
