Presents New Musical JUNK<br />

Rancho Mirage, CA - <strong>The</strong> Desert Rose<br />

Playhouse, the Valley’s LGBT stage company,<br />

will the World Premiere of a new<br />

musical JUNK by Michael Penny, opening<br />

Friday, <strong>April</strong> 29, <strong>20</strong>16 <strong>for</strong> a five-week run.<br />

Per<strong>for</strong>mances are Fridays and Saturdays<br />

at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2 PM, through<br />

May 29, <strong>20</strong>16.<br />

JUNK is about two gay men, one younger,<br />

one older. <strong>The</strong>y have been offered the<br />

contents of the North Carolina cabin of<br />

a recently deceased man in exchange <strong>for</strong><br />

cleaning it up so that the house might be<br />

put on the market. It turns out that this<br />

house is stuffed from attic <strong>to</strong> cellar with the<br />

man’s massive collection of old porn...and<br />

very little else. But as the two sort through<br />

this man’s belongings... something of his<br />

character begins <strong>to</strong> emerge... and in turn,<br />

something of their own characters as well...<br />

their unusual relationship <strong>to</strong> one another...<br />

and what it means <strong>to</strong> be an individual. A<br />

delightfully funny and <strong>to</strong>uching look at a<br />

gay generation gap with book, music and<br />

lyrics by a bright voice in LGBT Musical<br />

<strong>The</strong>atre!<br />

Features Jim Strait and Robbie Wayne and<br />

is directed by Steve Fisher. Joel Baker is<br />

Musical Direc<strong>to</strong>r and Accompanist. Tom<br />

Valach designs the set, and Phil Murphy is<br />

the Lighting Designer.<br />
