Adventure of the lifetime in the Caribbean or “When the dreams come true.”
As I was mentioning about multiple dreams
coming true, the first one is mine, personal.
I was growing up as a not very sporty
kid (couldn’t do much good with the ball)
in a simple small country of Slovakia. My
childhood was during the 90’s right after
the democratic revolution, so traveling was
something very new to us. Basically any
journey behind our border was a big adventure!
Later in my life I found kitesurfing as
my passion and became rather talented in it,
thus making my un-sporty childhood concept
wrong. I always dreamed about traveling to
some remote paradise location and when I
was invited to a photoshoot with CrazyFly
that was supposed to happen on the catamaran
cruising the Caribbean, I was more
than thrilled. So the first dream to happen is
about the young kid making his big adventure
in the tropical paradise.
But what about the other dream? What if I
tell you that some 15 years ago there was a
small company established in a small country
that just escaped limitations of the communism,
had no see bordering the country,
no constant wind on lakes, but still aimed
to be one of the world’s leading kitesurfing
manufacturers? Well I think you guessed
out that I am talking about the brand Crazy-
Fly, company that started in Slovakia as a
board producer, but now made themselves
popular in the whole world with a full range
of products for kitesurfing. But what made
it so special about this particular trip? Well
the guys behind the brand always wanted
to “produce” equipment, but until this year
they had to outsource the production of the
kites. But this year they build another factory
just for sewing the kites, so 2017 product
range is 100% European made, thus making
the dream of CrazyFly came true.
But enough about our dreams and let’s hear
about our adventure! We landed in the island
of Grenada with the following company:
trip organizers Michal and Jakub from the
CrazyFly Company, PRO rider Liloo Gringa,
cameraman Forest Bakker & me. We boarded
the Zenith Ocean Voyage catamaran,
where lovely couple Ged and Andrea gave
us a warm welcome. Those guys have been
first to sail Caribbean to make commercial
kiteboarding trips, so we knew we were in
good hands. If you ever consider spending
some quality time in the Caribbean, I highly
recommend spending your money with
those two! The same evening two remaining
members arrived: cheerful rider Tommy
Gaunt (who just took a series of short flights
from his kite school in Anegada) and skillful
Brazilian photographer Andre Magarao. We
