AR_When we told you two days ago, that we
would like to go kiting with you, you answered
immediately, “sure, we will go out tomorrow in
Waiehu!” Is that your favorite spot?
SS_I have a lot of favorite spots on Maui. It all depends
on the wind direction and what the waves
are doing. Kaneohe is definitely the most reliable
spot to kite on Maui, but if you know where to
go on certain days you can get away from the
crowds and find some really nice waves.
AR_On the one hand you tested kites with kite-designer
Ken Winner and on the other hand
you shape wavesboard for North Kiteboarding.
What do you consider to be your greater passion?
SS_I enjoy designing, testing, creating any and all
gear as long as it is something that I am excited
about riding myself! Obviously I love riding waves,
so designing surfboards is a great passion
for me. But I am equally excited to ride a new Neo
prototype or to test a new Rebel that I can go out
and do huge jumps, which is another aspect of
kiteboarding that I still really love and enjoy.
