However, it is important to note<br />
that Allstate Roadside Services is<br />
actually a white label provider for<br />
a very large number of OEMs in<br />
the US. So we have great OEM<br />
relationships today.<br />

and operated by Verisk is the<br />

From the services we provide<br />
today, we are already talking to<br />
OEMs.<br />
It is probably too early to tell what<br />
will be the dominant model. We<br />
just know that with our brand and<br />
our scale, we will have a seat at<br />
the table.<br />
M o s t c a r m a k e r s h a v e<br />
announced the launch of<br />
autonomous vehicles (AVs) by<br />
2020. The liability related to the<br />
driving could become much<br />
smaller. What is the likely<br />
impact on Allstate?<br />
Our CEO has been very visible in<br />
addressing this topic. A lot of<br />
companies are taking a ‘wait &<br />
see’ attitude. Our standpoint is<br />
that we’re moving forward into it<br />
instead of waiting. We’re looking<br />
at the ways we would play in<br />
whatever comes to pass.<br />
One thing is that we would expect<br />
these new services to be safer.<br />
Some of the results are showing<br />
that today and Allstate from an<br />
historical standpoint has always<br />
been front and centre as a<br />
proponent of safer things e.g.<br />
seat belts, airbags, etc.<br />

offerings, the way we go to<br />

innovation. I do expect that future<br />
differentiated UBI offerings will<br />
factor in the new technologies<br />
that are embedded in each<br />
vehicle.<br />
Further on, do you expect that<br />
people will eventually buy<br />
mobility services instead of<br />
cars, at least in cities?<br />
The autonomous cars are coming<br />
in some shape or form. You could<br />
also agree about the car sharing<br />
trend.<br />
The opportunity for us is to come<br />
up with new and innovative ways<br />
to meet this demand.<br />
We’re not putting our heads in<br />
the sand and assuming that<br />
those things are not happening.<br />
Instead we’re embracing new<br />
opportunities as things that are<br />
going to happen and we are<br />
going to be a leader in them.<br />
