that the vital interests of society can sometimes have
higher priority than the desires of an individual. This can
be achieved by maintaining a constant dialogue with children.
Appealing first to compassion and via care for pets or
younger family members, parents teach their children
basic rules of social justice and solidarity. This was pointed
out in the last century by renowned moral philosopher
David Hume .
However, it is impossible to achieve economic prosperity
without work ethic, understanding of the importance
of hard work and personal achievements. These values according
to Max Weber were the key to the success of the
Protestant countries compared with their Catholic neighbors
.
Important for disseminating of certain values and attitudes
in wider social strata are speeches and behavior of
public people, first of all, political leaders. That is why politicians
while carrying out their political activities should
understand how their public behavior, political program,
public speeches affect members of society and strength
the declared values. In addition, it is important that leaders
take part in educational activities for the population
regarding the declared progressive values and their importance
for achieving the goal. For example, their personal
honesty and well-being correlates with the welfare
of the society. Constant dialogue with the media is also
important; it should emphasize the need of dissemination
of the values that lead the society towards development
and progress. An important role here plays new “positive
mythology” based on successful examples from the past
of the region or the state in general, information about
successful steps of the neighbors who once successfully
overcome similar problems.
Therefore we can recall that in the USA even before
the creation of the state, training and education had high
priorities in the society. Now it is time for Ukrainians to
adopt the widely spread among Americans in the prerevolutionary
era imperative: listen, what advice the British,
and do as the British do . It can be modernized and
adapted for our reality: listen, what advise our Western
partners, and do as they do. First of all this is what education
needed for: to evaluate correctly and to apply successfully.
Thus, the circle closes with a simple syllogism.
All the states that want to be successful have to take care
of education and training system. Ukrainians want to be
successful. So Ukrainians have to take care of their education
and training system.
