Consultations also raised the importance of:
• developing employees with leadership and management skills
• flexibility and adaptability of employees as resources become more constrained and all employees will
need to have the ability to think flexibly and adapt quickly to new working environments
• the agency’s ability to maintain its role across government in response to operational savings measures.
WORKPLACE RELATIONS
Enterprise Agreement
During the reporting period, all Australian Public Service Level 1 (APS 1) to Executive Level 2 (EL 2)
employees remained covered by the terms and conditions of employment under the NHMRC Enterprise
Agreement 2011–2014. The agreement nominally expired on 30 June 2014, and bargaining for a replacement
continued with employee representatives throughout the reporting period.
The Enterprise Agreement bargaining team met throughout this year. The proposed agreement went to a
ballot in March 2016, but was not endorsed by the majority of employees who participated in the vote.
SES employment agreements

As at 30 June 2016, 6 SES Employment Agreements (common law contracts) were in place.
Other employment instruments
There were no determinations made under section 24(1) of the Public Service Act 1999 in the reporting
period 2015–16.
