Driver Education at MotorSport Ranch By Chris Irby Irecently attended the last DE of <strong>2003</strong> for the Maverick Region, at MotorSport Ranch sponsored by Boardwalk Porsche. I have attended events put on by other organizations before, but this was my first time to drive with the Porsche Club. I felt like this event was run much better than those held by the other organizations. Our run groups always went out on time and in an orderly manner, the catered barbecue lunch was great, and I always felt safe while I was on the track during the run sessions. This event was the most fun I have ever had at any of the track events that I attended. My instructor, Mike Brodigan, was a great teacher and a really big help to me on the track. He was able to show me a new line that I had never run before. This new line felt much more comfortable and much faster than the line that I had previously learned. I really appreciate all of the help he was able to provide for me. On Saturday, Boardwalk Porsche provided cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and all the fixings after the track had cleared in the evening. The cookout was a great idea and also a great way to finish a long day at the racetrack. Thank you: Larry Irby, Cindy Irby, Chris Alford, Archie VanScoonhoven, and Laura VanScoonhoven for all of your time and efforts to provide a great dinner for all of us at the track. Photo by Dave Frick MSR’s clubhouse is a cool place to watch the action from I am really excited that the Maverick Region was able to expand their schedule of track events for next year. After my wonderful experience with this last event, I can’t wait to get back out to the track again with the Maverick Region next year. ...I can’t wait to get back out on the track again with Maverick Region... Cliff Blackshear was also at the event, on behalf of Boardwalk Porsche, to provide mechanical services to participants when needed. Cliff always seemed to be busy looking into several of the different technical problems that arose throughout the weekend. I’m sure there are several participants who greatly appreciate all of the efforts and services put forth by Cliff throughout the weekend. Since Hans Hoffmann, Cliff Blackshear, and myself were at the event as members of Boardwalk Auto Group, there were several people, throughout the weekend, who showed us their appreciation for our support. It felt good to know that everyone really appreciated all of Boardwalk Porsche’s efforts to help the Maverick Region run an excellent event to finish up for <strong>2003</strong>.
