Top Speed / Blue Mesa Social
by Noby Takahashi
Quite a few Mavericks made the trek over to the Fort Worth
Cultural District to check out ‘Top Speed’ at the Omni
Theater. Being a resident of East Dallas, this was my first
trip to this area in few years. The Boxster S decided not to join me
in my westward journey, I had to sneak in a Chevy truck amongst
Porsches in the reserved parking area.
...I managed to get our table
in the food line before the
Shoffit’s table...
Between people that RSVP’d and drop-ins, my guess is that
nearly 100 Mavericks showed up to watch ‘Top Speed’. Very
impressive turnout. The show was quite enjoyable, watching
Lucas Luhr driving around Road Atlanta (175 MPH on Turn 12?)
in the GT3RS to Marla Streb taking a mountain bike down the
bobsled course. Double thumbs up from this viewer! You can
check out details at http://www.topspeedfilm.com. It did take me
about 15 minutes after walking out of the OMNI to completely
regain my balance.
Afterwards, many of us headed over to a wonderful meal at
Fort Worth Blue Mesa. Excellent choice, Mimi! As the highest
ranking officer at the event, I managed to get our table in the food
line before the Shoffits’ table (one of the first things I learned as a
Mingling in the museum lobby after the show
Many thanks
to KO for making
the arrangements
with the OMNI
Theater and
Mimi Spreen for
taking care of the
RSVPs and food
arrangements.
And thanks to all
the Maverick
members who
showed up, hope
you enjoyed it as
much as I did.
The “fun” table!
There was plenty of great food to fill your plate
