Caravan to Hope!
by Lanean Hughes
On Saturday, September 6, 2003, several
Maverick members and friends headed to
Mineral Wells to deliver items for the
shelter. With 2 suburbans, 1 Explorer, 1 station
wagon, 2 trucks and a van, we not only took up
lots of space on 820 and I-20, but also at the
shelter upon arrival.
Many thanks to Carol Pierce of Boardwalk
Porsche who spearheaded the staff there for
donations, to Larry Irby/BWP for the use of his
suburban, Bill and Sharron Dawson, Kevin
Procaccino and their 3 great children, Brian
Scudder, Clara Lewis and granddaughter
Kristen, Mimi & Geneva Spreen, Wendy
Shoffit, and Cody Sears (for the use of
his truck).
...help those who turn to us
in times of need...
After our visit to the shelter where we
took notes of what is needed and what we
can do to continue our support, we stopped
off at the MineralRing to see the TT folks.
Then we headed to Farmhouse Restaurant
in Cool, Texas for some great home
cooked food!
The staff at Hope sincerely appreciate
our donations, and as they said “It is
through generous donations like yours
that we are able to help those who turn to
us in times of need!”
We will be making another trip to the
shelter soon, watch Slipstream for details!!
The adults weren't the only ones helping out. Thanks, kids!
Clara Lewis and her granddaughter, Kristen, worked together as a team.
