Maverick Minutes Madhu Rao Our May board meeting reviewed our upcoming Maverick Regional activities in Q2/Q3 2011. Once again the officers of the organization would like to thank the committee chairs, and you, our regional members, for your support and participation of our club events. John Hamilton, our President, opened the meeting at 7pm and described an outreach program to recruit new members, and retain existing ones, by offering programs of value to Maverick Region members. Toward this objective, John announced the formation of a membership committee to be led by Lisa Steele. Lisa will be charged with sustaining a positive ‘on boarding’ experience for new members. Some of the tactics Lisa will introduce include a welcome letter, badge ordering process, and tailored communications based on the needs elicited from our upcoming Maverick Region membership survey. Richard Bradley wowed everyone with the ‘exquisite’ capabilities of his new Mac computer. With all of the artistic activities associated with the Maverick Region 50th anniversary, Richard, I am sure you’ll be using your Mac quite a bit. Together, Richard and Pat Friend discussed a proposal to print Slipstream in full-color. Based on an economic review, Pat recommended that Slipstream maintain its current format (color cover and black & white print). Pat suggested that a special color insert could be created for any 50th anniversary activities. The board agreed and will consider such an option as that for the future. Ed Mullenix discussed holding a Tech Session on July 9, 2011. Stay tuned for details. Luke Edson described that the equipment used at recent Drivers’ Education events required a minor refurbishment. Next, Linda Bambina, Christy Payne, and Lisa Steele noted that plans are underway for the Maverick Region 50th Anniversary in 2012. Check the Maverick Region website or Slipstream for future details. Lisa reiterated the need for new tactics to welcome the new members to the Maverick Region. She concluded by reporting that 85 drivers participated in the recent Drivers’ Education event. Continuing on this subject, more instructors are needed to handle the increased number of drivers. If this sounds like you, please contact a board member for more information. Fresh from tax season, our treasurer, Jim Falgout reported that our financial condition is healthy. Next, Travis Howard described the April 9th-10th Autocross/Time Trial events at Rangers Stadium. These were well attended and the venue was challenging.
