Happy Hour - Mac’s Steak & Seafood
By Ralph Kauffman
Despite the hot temperature and vacation
season, we had another excellent turnout
of Mavericks at the August Happy
Hour. About 44 Mavs gathered at Mac’s Steaks
and Seafood restaurant on Highway 121 in Colleyville.
Early arrivals socialized in the bar and
then moved to the dining area as more people
arrived. Those who attended Parade this year had stories to tell
about their experiences en route and at Parade.
As Happy Hour regulars know, this event is one of the best for
new (and not so new) members to get to meet and talk with
other members. Among new and relatively new attendees
this month were Pat Patel with his 2011 Boxster, also Debbie
and Randy Leal with his and hers Porsches - his: 2005 Turbo S,
and hers: 2002 C4 - and their guest Lee. Another new attendee
was Dave Nelson driving his 2011 Turbo S. Some longer-term
Mavericks who were present this month included Carey
Spreen of Rallymaster fame who said this was his first Happy
Hour in years, also Frank and Lois Olson (2003 Boxster) who
are 13 year members but this was only their 2nd Happy Hour,
Bobby and Mimi Norbin, Frankie Andrew, Denny and Christy
Payne, Alan Lage, Clarence Wyatt, Gordie and Sylvia Cohen,
and Myra and Jerry Sutton. Myra and Jerry were among Mavs
Photos by Barbara Kauffman
who brought home numerous awards from Parade this year.
We also had prospective member Glen Weber who currently
drives an E550 Mercedes, but was lured to Happy Hour by
John Hamilton who is in the process of interesting him in converting
to Porsche – way to go John! Happy Hour should be a
great way to convince prospects to sign on to the world’s best
marque!
In addition to socializing, everyone enjoyed Mac’s varied
dinner menu, including bottomless salad, the large variety of
draft beers and wines, and the convivial atmosphere.
Next month’s Happy Hour will be Thursday, September 15, at
Trinity Hall Pub, 5321 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX (214-887-
3600). As usual all are welcome. We hope to see you all there.
Clarence Wyatt, Christy and Denny Payne,
Alan Lage who is in from Germany
Mavericks (Frank & Lois Olson, Gordie & Sylvia Cohen, Frankie
Andrew, BJ Harvey & Glen Weber) enjoy a great
Happy Hour at Mac’s.
