ABOUT HOW
WELL OUR CLUB IS DOING!
• Total membership in
your Maverick Region
broke through 2,200!
• Attendance at “50 Cars for 50
Years” was almost 300 people
(and well over 100 Porsches)!
• The past two Sunday
Drives had 57 and 46
cars respectively!
• Happy Hours have
been PACKED!
• Autocross School at Pennington
was full despite the rain!
• April Drivers’ Education was
FULL in Green & Blue groups!
• Attendance at Cinco
de Mayo at Mayo’s exceeded
100 people!
I’m sure I’m missing something,
but it’s been great. I hope you have
joined us at one or more of these
great events, because each has been
a lot of fun! It has been especially
rewarding to meet so many firsttime
participants at each of these
events. We’ve even had several
Porsche owners join our club right
after attending one of these events.
But if you missed these events,
DON’T WORRY, because we have
many more spectacular events
coming in the months ahead.
Take a look at the calendar on
the preceding page (or better
yet, on our homepage: mav.pca.
org) and see which appeals to you.
Then write it on your calendar and
JOIN THE FUN! I look forward to
seeing you at one
of the many events
that our great
volunteers create.
Mav of the Month
Each month we
select someone in
our club as “Mav
of the Month” for
going “above and
beyond the call of
duty” for our club.
This month was especially
difficult to
decide, because so
many had worked
so hard on so
many of the fantastic events listed
above. But there was one individual
who was just so outstanding in his
dedication to creating an incredible
memory for us all that he had to
be chosen. Our Mav of the Month
is our 40-plus-year member Charlie
Davis, who has filled many roles in
our club from time to time,
but has continuously been
our club’s photographer
(and photographer for the
national Porsche Parade.)
Even if you haven’t met
him personally, you probably
SAW HIM above you at the
50 Cars for 50 Years event,
where he was high above us
all in a cherry-picker using
some amazing photographic
equipment to capture the
51 cars on the parking lot
at Texas Motor Speedway.
And after taking the pictures
(the one picture is actually
made up of 20 photos
stitched together!) he spent
countless hours perfecting
the picture, which will also
appear in a feature article
in Panorama magazine.
So Charlie, for all you do, this
one’s for you. You have been and
continue to be simply AMAZING!!!
Charlie receives a gift card to the
Silver Fox in Grapevine as recognition
for his outstanding efforts.
