I wanted to make sure there was no
remaining polish before applying
Paint Glaze. I applied the first coat
of Paint Glaze by hand. While it was
setting up, I started working on the
interior. After about 30 minutes,
I applied the second coat of Paint
Glaze and let it cure for a few hours.
The two coats of Paint Glaze would
fill in any scratches that didn’t buff
out from the four polishes I used
the day before. By this point the two
coats of glaze were rock hard. To aid
in the removal, I used Spray-On Wax
and a Micro Fiber towel and the
Griot’s 6-inch Random Orbital with
more Spray-On Wax.

At 4:15 I was ready to apply my first
of five coats of Best Of Show wax.
But first I needed to go to the kitchen.
Here’s a secret I learned from
the creator and long-time friend,
Richard Griot. Microwave the wax
for about 90 seconds, 30 seconds at
a time. Be sure the bottle is not full,
as the wax will thin, and remember
to remove the cap! The first coat of
Best of Show was curing. I would put
the second coat of wax on tonight
and the third tomorrow morning. It
had been another long, productive
day.

Day 4, Sunday June 28: The Best
Of Show wax had just come out of
the microwave, so I headed for the
garage to apply the third coat of
wax. At this point, the wax was really
building up. I had applied on the diagonal
this time so I could see where
I’d been. The creeper had been very
helpful these past few days . . . and
yes, I wax door jams and gas doors!
I applied the fourth coat of wax that
evening.

Day 5, Monday June 29: Time for
the fifth and final coat of Best Of
Show Wax. While it was curing, I
spent the rest of the day finishing the
interior. When it comes to Concours
judging, this is where most points
get deducted. If it didn’t come from
the factory, it can’t be in the car,
PERIOD! That means no garage
door openers, sunglasses, aftermarket
floor mats, cup holders, radar
detectors, GPS units, cell phones,
etc. Check the
glovebox too.
Nothing should
be in here but
the original
Owner’s Manual
in its original
case. One final
note; make sure
all your interior
lights work. Interior cleaning
That evening, the new Griot’s
Ultra-Premium Micro Fiber Towel
and Spray-On Wax blasted through
five coats of Best Of Show Wax with
ease. These new PFM towels are
Pretty Freaking Magical! The Paint
Correction was finished and the results
were beautiful! The paint was
soft, and the red was so incredibly
deep. This was my very best work,
and I couldn’t think of anyone more
deserving than Roger Tyson.

Day 6, Tuesday June 30: With
the Paint Correction completed,
I couldn’t cover it with a dirty car
cover, so it was off to the laundromat
with an eight ounce bottle of Griot’s
Micro Fiber & Foam Pad Cleaner
and 14 quarters for one of those
jumbo washing machines. I let it air
dry in the back yard.
Day 7, Wednesday July 1: Another
box from Griot’s arrived. It’s like
Christmas in July, and I’m taking the
day off.

Day 8, Thursday July 2: Interior
cleaning continued. The black
leather was beautiful and really
softening up. Moving to the cargo
area was like opening a Time
Capsule from 1988 -- everything was
in perfect condition. There was an
extra timing belt, Flat Tire bag, and
Touch Up paint still in their original
Porsche bags. I vacuumed one more
time and applied and the Vinyl &
Rubber Dressing. At this point, my
contribution was almost finished.
One last inspection, and back under
the car cover it goes, until Roger
picks it up! I’ll write again as my
adventure takes me to Carmel,
California.
